Another solo trip to the Gasworks today. As usual it was pretty sparse, although did manage to find a slightly older bit which held a few more bottles than usual. Nothing for the shelf came out, only some eBay fodder. Had to cut the session short as I managed to lose a contact lens.
Strangest find of the day was a little slate drawer, maybe from a little Welsh dresser model, complete wth handles. I would imagine that this would have been some sort of trinket, maybe for the tourist market? The longest travelled bottle of the day award fell to a half pint beer from Pontypridd, and the most unusual bottle was a brown Tomlinson & Co's Butter Colour.
The beginning of a nice excavation:
Plenty of fresh ash:
A few bits. The bottle with the measurements on the middle left is embossed Corbyn & Co. and the base has the name Gilbertsons and a Regd. No.:
A local pint beer, a half pint from Pontypridd!!! and the unusual Tomlinson & Co's Butter Colour:
An unusual poison with a ribbed sunken panel:
This appears to be a Welsh slate drawer, maybe from a little Welsh dresser?:
A pity this was broken, a nice plate from the Royal Sportsman Hotel, Portmadoc:
