Back to the Gasworks today for another crack. With the hole getting deeper and deeper it is now necessary to use a ladder and a bucket to dig. Expecting to be slowed down by having to fill the bucket and pull it to the surface to be emptied, it was a surprisingly smooth and painless operation, and one in which we made much better progress than expected. We were held back somewhat today by having to dig out two large tyres from the side walls as they were impeding our movement. We also came across a large lump of cement which was a nuisance as it was too heavy to lift out of the hole.

Nothing to take home today, although there was plenty of tat coming out.
